The UFC Fight Night event on June 25 is set to host a clash of styles between Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Rodolfo Vieira and striker Chris Curtis.
It was a middleweight collision First reported by Iridium Sports Agency, who runs Curtis. The location of the summer event, which comes just a week before UFC 276 takes center stage at International Fight Week, has yet to be confirmed.
When Octagon teams up with Vieira, Curtis (28-10) will make his third appearance on MMA’s biggest stage. The fan favorite made his UFC debut last November at UFC 268. Inside Madison Square Garden, “The Action Man” flipped the odds with a knockout Series Contestant Dana White Alum Phil Howes inside one round.
Curtis added his 16th KO win to his professional sophomore outing record, this time against the hugely popular Brendan Allen. “All In” Allen was on the verge of getting an arrangement before meeting Curtis at UFC Vegas 47 earlier this year. Stop that ambition, and newcomer Allen finished in the second frame.
The 34-year-old was originally booked to face rising middleweight South African Dreikos de Plessis at UFC 273 last weekend. However, Cortes was forced to withdraw.
Looking to break Curtis’ perfect record in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and seven wins in a row would be BJJ Vieira legend (8-1). After a successful fighting career, “The Black Belt Hunter” moved to MMA in 2017, going 5-0 en route to the Octagon.
After using two arm triangle chokes in his first two fights at his MMA premiere, Vieira was expected to use his jiu-jitsu genius to climb the ladder at 185lbs. This charge was stopped by Anthony Hernandez. In one of the most memorable moments of 2021, “Fluffy” shocked the world by introducing Vieira with a guillotine.
Having recovered by introducing Dustin Stoltzfuss in the third round last July, the Brazilian will be hoping to return to his winning streak and open his account in 2022 by defeating in-form Curtis on June 25.
The current battles expected to take place on June 25 are as follows:
Tim Elliott vs. Amir El Bazi (Flyweight)
Chris Curtis vs Rodolfo Vieira (middleweight)
Jane U Fry vs. Vanessa Demopoulos (Women’s Strawweight)
Josh Parisien vs. Alain Boudeau (Heavyweight)
Who do you think will raise a hand in this, Chris Curtis or Rodolfo Vieira?
