Tom Parker, the British singer best known as a member of the boy band The Wanted, has died nearly two years after he was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma. He was 33 years old.

The singer’s wife, Kelsey, announced her death on Instagram Wednesday, saying that Parker passed away earlier that day with his family at his side.

“Our hearts are broken, Tom was the center of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence,” she wrote. “We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all come together to ensure that Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.”

She concluded, “Thank you to everyone who supported in his care all along, he fought to the end. I am forever proud of you.”

Parker and his wife, who married in 2018, are parents to daughter Aurelia Rose, 2, 2, and son Buddy Thomas, 17 months. In Kelsey’s post, she shared a black and white photo of her husband, as well as a sweet family photo of the four.

The wanted man also posted their own ad, sharing that they were able to be by Parker’s side while he died.

“Max, Jay, Siva, Nathan and all members of the wanted family are devastated by the tragic and early loss of our bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away peacefully at lunchtime today surrounded by his family and bandmates,” the statement read. “Tom was a wonderful husband to Kelsey, and a father to Aurelia and Buddy. He was our brother, and words cannot express the loss and sadness we feel. Always and forever in our hearts.”

The “Glad You Came” singer was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the summer of 2020, and broke the news in October, saying at the time that he knew “something wasn’t right” but that he “never expected this to be.”

“We are all devastated but we will fight all this way,” he said in an Instagram post. “We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will work to raise awareness of this terrible disease and seek all treatment options available.”

He chose not to know his prognosis when he was diagnosed, and said in October 2021 that he usually receives the drug every two weeks, but that he was able to pay it every three weeks because he was “responding well” to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

However, Parker revealed that his illness had affected his short-term memory and ability to move.

In November, he announced that his tumor was “under control” and stable, triggering “such a mixture of emotions.”

“We can’t ask for more at this point; a year or so on this journey,” he wrote. “Honestly over the moon. We can sleep a little easier tonight. Thank you for all your love and support over the past 12 months. Love from me, Kelsey, Aurelia and Beau.”

In early March, he shared on Instagram that he had been seeking treatment in Spain for the past few weeks.

The star has maintained a positive outlook throughout his battle with cancer, and gave audiences an intimate look into his life in October in the documentary. Tom Parker: Inside my head – which established his initial diagnosis and treatment – sharing what he wants “from the future”.

In the film, which was broadcast in the UK, he said: “More time with my kids. More time with my wife. More time with life.” “And I feel like that’s going to happen. I have that positive outlook on life. And I think when you take strength and courage from others around you, it really helps.”

The documentary also chronicled his efforts to organize a charity reunion featuring his former bandmates, which took place in September.

Joining The Wanted – made up of Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes – in 2009, the band achieved success in the US with songs such as “Chasing the Sun” and “Glad You Came”, which peaked at #1 First. 3 on painting hot 100.
