Messages: Rams, Dodgers and Lakers decisions up for discussion

Let’s compare the decisions of the general managers of the Los Angeles teams.

Les Snead gets permanent professional bowler, great captain and future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner for $10 million a year. Lots of money, sure, but he’s getting close to raising the bar and being a fan favorite for years. LeBron James, the GM Lakers manager, is thin-skinned, and underperforms Russell Westbrook for the deal rate of $40 million a year.

Maybe let the front office do its thing and just ask the players to play.

The Rams extended the contracts of Sean McVeigh and Lee Snead. Hooray! Great movement. But it is Aaron Donald who leads the rams, the heart and soul of the team. In years past, his phenomenal play set an example. Von Miller taught him to be a vocal leader, too. Donald is clearly the Lawrence Taylor of this generation and should be the highest paid defensive player in the league. If money is scarce, there is precedent. Give him 5% fractional ownership similar to Magic Johnson and the Lakers. Donald deserves every penny the Rams can muster.

The Dodgers could have signed Kenley Jansen for the same money they’d pay Craig Kimbrill and not lose AJ Bullock.

Cody Bellinger says his swing is in a good place now, but Dodgers fans aren’t in a good place when he comes to the racket. He’s had two bad seasons and hit .148 while hitting 70% of the time in spring practice. We’re pulling you Cody, but we’ve run out of patience.

It was really great to see the Dodgers renew Andrew Toles for 2022. I have a better chance of playing for the Dodgers this season than Toles. His $700,000 salary is a “roundabout error” for the team, but along with that comes a healthcare plan second to none, which will allow Tols to continue to get the first-class medical help he needs for his mental health issues. Kudos to the ownership of a meaningless step in the field but one that saves one’s life.

Inside info on the NBA

The Lakers have officially become the NBA’s version of the Washington Generals. Maybe LeBron can jump ship, once again, to the Globetrotters. Move over your meadowsweet, there’s a new Barney Five in town.

In the early 1970s, Washington football coach George Allen led the “Over the Hill Gang” team to the NFL Playoffs. Now, if Lakers coach Frank Vogel can channel his heart to George Allen, the Lakers may make the playoffs, too.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ problem is: They are not the Lakers! They are gypsies and guns for rent. These current Lakers have not made any meaningful associations with the city or in purple and gold – they only wear uniforms and collect money for services rendered. The Lakers’ last local players – Alex Caruso and Kyle Kuzma – are now playing elsewhere, making LeBron – currently in his third season with the club – Laker’s longest serving. We once had a young royal guard preparing to face enemies in our house. Now we’re left with mercenaries who don’t care anything about the brand we’re loyal fans of.

So Clippers coach Tyrone Law is upset that 76-year-old General Motors Daryl Morey has the audacity to criticize communist China, a country implicated in genocide and slave labor, because his comments “cost the NBA a billion dollars.” Let’s not let justified moral outrage get in the way of more money.

What aura!

The Angels are about to start the 2022 MLB season. What will we see this season? Nothing we haven’t seen before! Management basically tied their hands with the contracts of Albert Pujols and Mike Trout ($425 million?). They bring in a few guys who do nothing because they don’t have the money, Anthony Rendon is a full bust; He hits .143 in spring training.

Then we all woke up one morning, and the Dodgers caught a local boy from El Modena High School, just five minutes from Angel Stadium, Freddie Freeman. Man, someone within the Organization of Angels was asleep at the wheel on that.

I usually turn to sports to read about angels. I’ve been recently looking for updates in the obituary section. Since the daily coverage of angels this spring wasn’t there, they’re clearly dead to you.

Due to the length of the nine-game games, the MLB should instead exchange the outcome of the innings for a coin flip.

Therefore, the NFL overtime rules change to a smart, reasonable and fair system, but Only for interval games.

So, the reasonable, intelligent and fair question is: Why only for the playoffs? The regular matches of the season influence who makes the playoffs.

March madness

Letters to The Times Sports Department over the past two weeks have claimed that Mick Cronin didn’t know how to train attack or defense. How did the Bruins win 27 games with all their injuries, ailments and a tough schedule to get to Sweet 16 with a coach who can’t train?

Other than the slight interest in Johnny Guzhang, there is no other UCSD player to draw attention from the NBA. Bruins don’t have a big guy who can dominate in a low position. They are not a great paying team. Despite this, they had success in Cronin’s tenure as a coach. he is the cause. Critics of his crime ignore that UCLA is one of the leaders in the country in the fewest number of transitions. Most importantly, unlike the previous coach, Cronin’s teams play hard.

As a Bruin graduate and longtime ticket holder, I, like many others, blame Cronin for the loss to North Carolina after the belated crash. My thinking was that maybe the Bruins and Lakers could trade coaches. Then, after the Lakers lost to Philadelphia after a 20-point lead in the first half, I realized that “if it’s broken, you can’t fix it.”
