Tom Parker helped a family dealing with their daughter’s brain tumor in the months before his death.

The wanted singer, 33, who passed away on Wednesday 30 March, is linked to 23-year-old Amani Liaqat as both of them suffered from the same disease.

According to The Mirror, the pair were regularly texting one text from Tom to Amani that read: “I don’t understand. Why do you think you’re dying? You’re not dying. We’re not dying. We’re still young. We’re fit enough.”

Amani, a first-class law graduate, tragically passed away on February 21 on her sister Rukaya’s 21st birthday.

Tom met Amani when he was filming his documentary on Channel 4 Tom Parker – Inside My Head and they kept in touch after that.

Her parents said that when Tom died, she felt the loss of another family member.

Khurram Liaqat, Amani’s father said: “Their journey, stories of seizures etc. were almost identical, so they clicked right away. Getting him to stay connected, almost having this lifeline from Tom, gave Amani some hope and excitement.

She was a trapped soul, completely isolated because she couldn’t get out during the pandemic when she was sick. Tom was one of the few suffering from the same disease that she met in person. Their exchanges turned into almost a small conversation piece.

Amani, from Luton, watched Tom perform with The Wanted at the Royal Albert Hall in London in September.

Tom texted Amani with words of support on the day of her brain surgery which her parents said really helped her.

On the day of her death, Tom took to Instagram and wrote: “My thoughts and love are with her family. She was a wonderful young woman. Bright, smart and playful and it was a pleasure to meet her.

He later sends Amani’s family a ceramic angel box, a packet of Forget-Me-Not seeds, and a silver picture frame they keep in their bedroom.

Amani was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme, a rapidly growing brain tumor, on her 22nd birthday and died 22 months later.

His wife Kelsey, 32, confirmed the news of Tom’s death, and he survived it with their two children, Aurelia, aged one, and Buddy, aged one.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we can confirm that Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family at his side,” Kelsey said.

“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all come together to ensure that Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.”

She continued to thank everyone who took care of Tom while he was sick, adding that he fought the disease to the end.

A close family friend told The Sun that in his last moments, Tom asked to listen to Oasis’ song ‘Live Forever’ with his friends, family and bandmates while he passed away.

The singer’s death comes just a week after he revealed he was writing his memoir amid his battle with brain cancer.

Tom was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma and his diagnosis was revealed to the public in October 2020.
